Cruising around

Little Jakub has really figured out the whole crawling thing. He gets around like no one's business! He also now gets in to everything! We also finally put together his horsey from Uncle Jay for Christmas. He hasn't quite mastered the bouncing up and down yet, but I am sure it won't take long! Here are a few pics from this past weekend with lots more posted in the web album.

Silly toof...

Here are some pics that Lindsey, our Nanny, took of Jakub just being silly and of his one toof...

The second toof is coming in right on top...he is going to be a little rabbit until the lower toof comes in!

What a crazy week!

A lot has happened with our family over the last week, so much that we haven't had time to blog lately. Starting with last Thursday when I made the fateful decision NOT to take a certain flight from Newark to Buffalo to come home. I had been in NJ and Philly late last week on a business trip and luckily my meeting in Philly on Thursday wasn't done until 4:30, not 3:30....All that I can say is that someone was watching over me that day....and I am truly the luckiest person in the world. It was such a surreal experience to wake up the next morning and know that I could have very likely been on that plane had I had rushed to finish up that day at work. My heart is with all of those people that were just like me...just coming home to be back with their families after a couple of days away for work.

Anyway...now for some more uplifting news...Jakub has really made leaps and bounds in his development over the last week. He has learned to crawl! At first it was a little uncoordinated, but now he has it down pat! He can also sit up on his own. In addition to his one upper tooth, he is sprouting his other front upper tooth and a lower tooth! He is becoming such a big boy!

This past weekend, we also went to visit Jay in DC. Jakub got to make his first visit to Irish Times. We also visited the Baltimore aquarium, where Jakub had a great time squealing at the fish and after a few hours zonking out in the baby carrier from all of the excitement! We also visited few monuments around DC..the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, etc. We had an excellent Valentine's day dinner at Lia's where Jakub got to try gelato for the first time. Boy did he like that. All in all it was loads of fun!

Jakey at Irish Times! He was quite a hit!

Stick your tongue out!

Jakub has a new look now...the stick out your tongue at you look! We actually think that he just likes rubbing his tongue on his gums, but it is still pretty funny.

Here he is showing off his tongue and standing skills with Nana this weekend...

9 month doctor visit

Jakub went for his 9 month doctor visit today. We braved the 2 degree weather in our new 18month winter coat and slippers for the ride to the doctor. The visit was little traumatic because he had to have his finger pricked and a little blood taken as well as his shot, but with the help of a little sing along, he got through it ok. He did get to see Grannie Lois, so that made it all worth it. His favorite part of the the visit was tearing apart the noisy paper he was sitting on for the doctor's table. As I thought, he is still right at the top of the charts in terms of height 30.5 inches (97 percentile), 22lbs 2oz (75%) and 18.25 inches head (80%). The doctor remarked how "sturdy" he was and the nurse pointed out how big his feet are...both of which gave me a little chuckle. That's our sturdy, big footed little man!

First Tooth!

So, blogging on Monday about the fact that Jakub didn't have teeth yet must have encouraged the little bugger to poke itself through because yesterday Jakub got his first tooth! The new tooth is on the top, so already our little guy is a contrarian. Can't wait to see where the next one pops in!

9 Months Old!

We can't believe how the time has flown. Its seems like it was yesterday that our little bug was born...and now he is a big, big 9 month old! We tried lots of new things today in honor of his birthday...chunky food and yogurt melts! Yum! Well, the chunky food got a few funny faces...and so did the yogurt melts. Also, Jakub FINALLY held his cup on his own, as demonstrated in the picture below! Its not just a play toy! He actually drank about an ounce of formula from it...an all time record! Still no teeth...we need to start taking bets on whether he will have teeth by his 1 year birthday!
